Thiele Roller In Tonasa – A Success Story

There is no short and easy way for a success. The same thing applies to roller of Thiele.
A pan conveyor chain in Tonasa 4 plant (owned by PT Semen Tonasa) is using rollers which need grease regularly. Based on periodical schedule, the grease is manually inserted to the rollers while the chain is on operation. This kind of job should not happen. The worst thing is the lifetime of rollers reach only 6 – 8 months.
There were some companies have already supplied the roller for trial. Among them is a widely known chain brand. But, they all failed. The longest time of trial was 3 months. So, it is reasonably understandable that when Thiele, a leading manufacturing company of chain products in Germany, introduced free-maintenance roller, it did not get immediately accepted by PT Semen Tonasa.
It took about 1 year to convince Tonasa to let Thiele roller on trial. Before Tonasa agreed to invite Thiele for the bidding of roller, they initially has set the time of trial : 6 months. When it reached the time, they asked for the trial period : 1 year. After 2 years of successful trial, Tonasa got convinced that Thiele is manufacturing good quality products.
At the time this article is written, PT Semen Tonasa has ordered more than 500 pieces of roller and several sets of chain. All of them shows good and reliable performance.
After 3 years, 2 of 4 rollers for trial are still rolling and they effortlessly continue their service without any problem.
